Aggravated assault as defined by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) policy have continued to rise. Below are reported aggravated assaults inside and outside the 500 yard UGA jurisdiction. There were 212 counts of aggravated assault within 500 yards of the UGA main campus within this 2 year period. Please note that this map does not include 4 aggravated assaults reported by the University of Georgia Police Department in 2021. The UGA Clery Act data for 2022 will be available Fall of 2023. Also, ACCPD does not report incidents of any kind within the boundaries of UGA property. Real-time reporting of crime incidents by ACCPD can be found on their transparency hub here.

Aggravated assault by year reported by ACCPD. There have been 58 aggravated assaults reported in 2023 (1/1/2023-2/4/2023). If 50 is assumed average then the extrapolated forecast for 2023 is 600 aggravated assaults which would be a new annual high.
